I tried so many face washes in ALL price ranges but narrowed it down to the 4 BEST and get this-they can fit in YOUR budget! Read on:
Ok, so let’s talk FACE WASH. Everybody knows it is STEP ONE when you are trying to get your look right. Considering there are about a bazillion face washes on the market, which ones are the best investment for your money? I have narrowed it down for you by trying DOZENS of face washes over the last year (and only the sexgods know how many in my lifetime) and picking my 4 favorites. The best news? Most are pretty damn cheap! Get ready for some skincare insight from a product junkie.
A favorite for SO MANY reasons. YES this is THE most expensive face wash on this list, coming in at a hefty $38, BUT ExfoliKate Cleanser is the best all around face was I have used in a long, long time. Good enough to use everyday, strong enough to make your skin feel deeply clean and remove stubborn foundation.
Face washes can be the perfect place to try out new types of exfoliants
This is the ONLY cleanser on this list to also have physical exfoliants in it (think scrubby beads or gritty texture) to aid in the cleansing process. I normally HATE hose things in a cleanser, but this one is so damn good that they are a welcome addition in it. AND if the $38 price point is too high you can pick up a smaller $19 tube in the TryMe section at Sephora stores. So so worth it-best all around. (note: DON’T confuse this with the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment- it is more of a mask treatment and way too rough for daily use!)
Been hearing how Glycolic acid toner is all the rage but it seems like it would be too harsh for your skin? Then THIS is the next best thing and definitely the BEST chemical exfoliant face wash I have tried so far. It is gentle on skin but totally makes a difference with regular use. And by difference I mean cleaning out pores, evening skin tone and more.
Chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid can change the surface of your skin-for the BETTER!
However, this is NOT one for everyday use. I recommend using it every other day or a couple of times a week. Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser is the perfect way to try out a gentle acid on your face-get ready for a new type of results. The large 6oz bottle will last you FOREVER and is only $16 (a little goes a long way). However you can also buy a smaller trial size for only $8.
The darling of clinical precision dermacare is The Ordinary
Not heard of this brand yet? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? The Ordinary has achieved almost cult like status since becoming available at Sephora and now some of their line is also carried by Ulta. The Ordinary is known for products that deliver clinical results but have a bargain price tag. This is why they are so beloved-beyond the fact THEY WORK.
If you are looking for a gentle, creamy cleanser that is suitable for dry or mature skin then this is going to be your new fave. I really like The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser in the mornings when I am not trying to remove makeup but need something to wash off last night’s treatments and the dried spittle from the corners of my mouth, lol. This powerful and gentle face wash will only set you back around $8.
The BEST drugstore face cleanser is around four bucks
You HAD to know I would include at least ONE drug store fave. I love noxema. Just regular, classic Noxema in the jar. This is one of the BEST inexpensive face cleansers around. It melts all the oil you DON”T WANT on your face without ever stripping away the moisture you NEED. At around $4 for a big jar, Classic Noxema is one purchase that could last you a really long time. I have bought it dozens of times and keep going back for more. It is good enough to be your only face wash BUT I personally like to alternate in other brands of face wash according to my mood and needs.
If you do 2-step cleansing you will LOVE this
SURPRISE! I have one extra to add in-this is not really a face wash BUT it is part of cleaning your face effectively so I just HAD to mention it: Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. This oil is my secret weapon for removing makeup. It breaks all makeup down instantly, even waterproof mascara and your most spray-fixed foundations.
I use the Tatcha Oil as part of a 2-step cleansing regime. The oil is used to break down and remove makeup and grime whereas any cleanser that follows does the actual “washing” of your face. I never use ONLY a cleansing oil, so I don’t consider it a face wash per se, BUT Tatcha’s is THE BEST. If youplan to ever invest in a cleansing oil in order to do a 2-step cleansing routine then I recommend theirs. It is a whopping $48 and SO WORTH IT. If you do not want to invest that much into an oil then you can get a trial size for $15. Once you try washing your face this way, you will NOT go back.
What do YOU like washing your face with? Have you tried any of the face washes I mentioned above? Is there a brand you would like to know about that I didn’t mention? Leave a reply in the comments! Share YOUR faves, comment on my choices, give suggestions and MORE!
